Bikes & E-Scooters on Metro
E-scooters:
E-scooters are not permitted on our network including trains, stations, and platforms. They pose a potential fire/smoke risk due to faulty lithium-ion batteries, which could cause harm to both customers and staff.
Bikes on Metro:
Bikes (including folding e-bikes) can be taken onto stations and trains between Callerton Parkway-Jesmond, Manors-Jesmond (via Whitley Bay), Gateshead Stadium-South Shields/South Hylton during the following times:
•Monday to Friday 10.00am-3.00pm
•Monday to Friday 7.00pm until end of service
•All day at weekends
Each Metro train has two designated storage areas for bikes located at either end of the train. One non folding bike is allowed in each designated space (2 bikes per train). These spaces are also be used by wheelchair users and customers with pushchairs. Priority must always be given to wheelchair users and customers with pushchairs.
Bikes are not permitted at Airport, St James or between Haymarket and Gateshead.

Antisocial Behaviour Reporting
Did you know you can now report low level anti social behaviour through the Pop App?
When you’re travelling on Metro and witness something that needs reporting—such as vaping, smoking, intoxication, harassment, or disorder—simply tap ‘Report’, select ‘Report a non emergency’, and choose your preferred reporting channel.
To help us respond effectively, please include:
• your location or direction of travel,
• the activity taking place, and
• a description of those involved.
Save the number in your phone so you can easily report issues in the future.

<effectiveFrom>Mon, 18 May 2026 05:40:16 GMT</effectiveFrom>
<constant>constantvalue</constant>

Revised timetable: South Gosforth to Benton

We are operating a temporary revised timetable affecting trains between South Gosforth and Benton in both directions.
